Hi! I'm Rachael, Beyond the Veil's counselor for teens and young adults and inner child work for adults.

I support my clients who have faced stressful situations and need help healing and rebuilding resilience. I aim to develop a unique approach that integrates traditional counseling with spiritual practices, such as Reiki, meditation and breathwork, to bridge our experiences and our soul. I work with teens, young adults, and their families, as well as adults, to process trauma, emotions like grief or betrayal, and difficult life changes. There we connect with their inner truths and higher self, promoting resilience and a deeper understanding of where they are in their journey now. I have chosen this career because I have a deep passion to be a healer for the next generation. To paraphrase a favorite quote, “the last step to healing is to take everything you’ve been through and use it to heal others”. I have a heart for helping teenagers and young adults because of my own experiences with chronic illness that challenged me to transform both physical and emotional pain to find my own freedom.

I guide clients towards:

Empowering with Insight: I focus on identifying and nurturing solutions rather than just addressing problems. I empower clients to uncover their own answers and strengths, aligning their solutions with their deeper values and beliefs, and supporting their personal journey. This aids in rebuilding safety and trust in themselves and recovering hope and meaning in their decisions.

Spiritual Support: I assist clients in understanding and processing their emotions and exploring their inner world by integrating spiritual practices into their healing process. By guiding them to find comfort and meaning in their experiences, I encourage them to connect with their inner selves and explore their sense of purpose and meaning on a deeper level. Working together, they connect with their sense of spirituality, fostering a more profound and supportive healing journey.
My Story
Transformation can be really tough and even more so for those who feel like they are going though it alone. They might make signification changes and learn important things about themselves, but it can feel like others around them don’t notice or even miss the old version of themselves. Having someone who understands how transformation works and can support them as they let go of old way and discover new ones can be incredibly reassuring. In my work, I aim to be that supportive guide, helping children navigate their journey and uncover their true selves with empathy and understanding.
As the oldest of two I grew up in a conservative religious home and school. I often felt stifled when it came to expressing my own thoughts and feelings, thankfully, I eventually discovered creative outlets like art, photography, writing, and acting.
When I was twenty, after a six-year long struggle, I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease, and at first I was ecstatic. I felt validated. I finally had an answer to my years of pain that no one could explain. Yet, systematically, one by one, as the doctor broke the news to me about what my life would look like going forward, I watched every dream I had set for myself vanish. Lyme Disease is chronic, a silent pandemic, and it can kill you or make you wish you were dead. It attacks the nerves, tissue, bones, joints, ligaments, and organs. It attacked my brain. This led to dropping out of college, quitting work, and setting me on a challenging path of treatment.
For years I moved from doctor to doctor trying to find a treatment plan that would make me normal, that would force this ravaging disease into submission and would allow me to be me once again. For years, I was largely isolated, facing intense grief and confusion. Every time I gained a little ground toward feeling like a ‘functioning member of society’. I would take classes to try and pretend to be ‘normal’, but almost always, it felt like an impossible task. My experience with Lyme Disease was a pivotal “Tower” moment for me, where everything felt like it was falling apart, and I was completely undone. This challenging time greatly shaped my approach to life, expanding my empathy and enabling me to see life from diverse perspectives. This insight helps me provide clients with fresh viewpoints and break through their fixed patterns of thinking. Additionally, my personal journey of rediscovering myself equips me to deeply understand and support clients facing chronic issues or significant personal transformations.
Eventually, I turned to homeopathy, which brought relief, both physical and emotional, and set me on a journey of towards spiritual awakening. This path led me to essential oils, crystal healing, and a deeper connection with myself. In 2018, I finally pushed my Lyme into remission, and I haven’t looked back! I wanted to live life and pursue things I had ben too afraid to do in my youth. I turned to acting and it became a kind of therapy for me. It taught me that despite our difference, there is always at least one single point of commonality that you can use to connect and grow in understanding. The experience also taught me that I enjoy the one on one/small group connections that come from working closely with others because you can see and watch as they heal and grow. I believe this experience translates well to the role of counselor. Often, it is easy to feel like the person you want to be, or the life you want to have, is far outside your grasp and it can make the idea of healing seem daunting because you don’t think you will ever obtain it. Though it can be a difficult task to find your way through, it is both possible and deeply rewarding.
I believe I can make a significant difference working with you and your family because I have the desire, passion, and empathy needed to help others. Through my journey spirituality has been a light in the darkness always guiding me, keeping me moving forward, slowly but surely. What I like to call My Circle Guidance, has led me to some amazing people, some tough growths, and some life altering experiences – including going for my masters!
The experiences I have gone through in the process of earning both my degrees have transformed me and allowed me to learn the truths of who I am and who I want to be. I have embraced spiritual counseling, numerous awakenings, and Reiki attunements. My passion now is helping others navigate their own dark times. I work with adolescents and young adults, and their families, to process trauma, emotions like grief or betrayal, and difficult life changes. I use techniques such as mindfulness, guided meditation, breathwork, and art to create a safe space for healing and growth.
